September 2016 - Design & Supply

Design, supply and installation for an accessible bathroom with simplistic and modern monochrome aethetics.

THE CHALLENGE

A beautiful bungalow near Whipsnade Zoo recently bought by a lovely couple, one of whom is a wheelchair user desperately needed to re-design their bathroom to meet their accessible requirements as well as meeting a monochrome aethestic theme.

THE IDEA

Our priority was to create a safe, secure and simple to use space giving a complete peace of mind for our client. Whilst ensuring the bathroom space was easy to access and use we also wanted to create an environment that didn’t look like the typical disabled bathroom. Instead we aimed for a wet room that had a sense of classic elegance in it and brought a feeling of calm and relaxation.

THE RESULT

To offer more space we removed the entire existing heating system and shifted hot boiler tanks into the attic. We also broke our the airing cupboards to re-route all the pipework and re-install a larger hot water tank to offer additional power to the shower. As a result, the wheelchair could be wheeled straight into the wet room without any obstacles. We installed an accessible sliding hand shower as well as an overhead rain shower to accomodate for both of our clients and finally we introduced a wireless remote at the entrance of the shower. This meant the shower could be activated outside of the shower (even from the bedroom) allowing the water to reach the desired temperature without having to reach into the shower and getting wet.

READY TO CREATE YOUR DREAM SPACE.
